  • Use simple practical examples
  • Emphasize implementation, the next step
  • Stay in the here and now
  • Explain systems as a number of facts or projects
For a Japanese executive to communicate with his or her American counterpart, he or she should:
  • Begin with the goal in mind
  • Start with the big picture and fill in the facts
  • State conflicts or disagreeable truths directly
  • Emphasize prediction and control
  • Emphasize innovation
  • Show how project relates to strategy
